British Columbia - better known as BC - has mountains for skiing, water for kayaking, and a climate that allows for almost year-round tennis.
The local people are very relaxed and, in my opinion, not as driven and career-focused as people in, say, Toronto. They are too busy having fun.
A bit about BC:
• The provincial motto is "Splendor Sine Occasu" (Splendour Without Diminishment).
• It is Canada’s western-most province, where you can enjoy coastal pursuits, mountains and a temperate climate. BC is also home to Canada's only true (but small) desert.
• It has the second-largest park system in Canada, after Canada's National Parks.
• In 2014, Snow Magazine put two BC ski resorts - Revelstoke and Whistler - among the 10 best in the world.
• At 944,735 square km (364,764 square miles), BC is Canada's third-largest province. (To put this in perspective, BC is about four times the size of the UK, which is 243,610 square km [94,058 square miles].)
• With a population of 4.68 million, BC is third most populated province. (About 50% of the province's population live in Vancouver.)
• It is home to Canada’s third-largest urban area, Vancouver, at 2.485 million (behind metro Toronto and metro Montreal).
• The University of British Columbia (UBC) has the third largest full-time undergraduate student enrolment in Canada, after the University of Toronto and York University.
• The Economist’s official report, 2015 Global Liveability Ranking, ranked Vancouver as the third most liveable city in the world.
• In early 2016, Mercer’s 18th annual Quality of Living Survey ranked Vancouver at #5 in the world.
