Housing
One of the most attractive benefits to working in Saudi Arabia is that fully furnished accomodations are provided rent and utility free.
During a recent visit to Jeddah (January 23rd, 2009 - January 25th, 2009) Elaine Ng, Recruitment Associate; Dominika Kaleta, Logistics Manager; and I, Recruitment Assistant, were provided with a comprehensive tour of Housing at The King Faisal Specialist Hospital. Not only were we able to tour the compound, but we were each provided with a one-bedroom apartment for our short stay.
Al Amoudia
All hospital staff are housed in Amoudia compoud. The compound looks like a tropical resort but feels like a tight-knit community.
The compound is located just six-minutes from the main hospital and a shuttle bus service is provided for transportation of staff.
Phase I is reserved for single males, Phase II for females, and Phase III and IV are reserved for families. Most employees will recieve a single occupency bachelor unit, however, one-bedroom apartments are available for senior staff.
On the compound you will also find the recruitment department, employment offices, housing and education services.
The compound has a mini market for the daily necessities like water, milk, bread, etc. It also
sells snacks, limited amount of vegetables and household items. A daily bus service is provided to all the big malls and stores.
Satellite television is available for purchase at a cost of 50 SR/month. You receieve 40 channels (60% are English).
Internet access is also available (USB connections). Various packages are available, however, most staff pay 100 SR/month.
One-bedroom - Super Studio
The one-bedroom super studio is a single-occupency unit reserved for higher level administrative staff.
The unit is fully furnished, and includes an ensuit washer/dryer.
Bachelor - Studio
All staff level positions (ex. Staff nurse), are provided with their own accomodation, which consists of a "bachelor" apartment, living room/bedroom, seperate bathroon and kitchen.
Each building has three floors with 16 units on each floor, 48 units per building. Every second building has a laundry room with washing machines and tumble dryers.

There is a beautiful swimming pool for each Phase, as well as a small but well-equipped gym, steam room and sauna, and a large open air Jacuzzi
