The Emergency Medicine Department at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia sees between 13,000 and 15,000 patients per year (equivalent to between 25 and 40 visits per day).
Because the King Faisal is an inner city referral centre in Jeddah, the ER receives primarily medical, cardiac and pediatric emergencies. It sees very little trauma.
The department has 10 Emergency Medicine doctors on staff. The three-vehicle Ambulance Service is outfitted with the most modern resuscitation equipment.
Prior to offering a permanent one- or two-year contract, the hospital invites doctors for a one-month locum. This provides an opportunity to see the hospital, the department, Jeddah, and Saudi Arabia before making a long-term commitment.

- American Boards in Emergency Medicine / Canadian FRCPC in Emergency Medicine / Canadian CCFP-EM
- A minimum of five years post-specialty certification experience in emergency medicine in North America, and
