Job Description
Assumes responsibility for the planning, organization, facilitation and implementation of all the phases of Performance Improvement (PI) activities, under the direction of the Quality Management Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinates the functions of the PI function under the direction of the Director, OM.
- Develops the PI Plan in line with the organization's mission, vision and provision of services.
- Facilitates implementation of the PI Plan. Participates in the development of policies and procedures, curriculum for education and training and monitoring process.
- Facilitates implementation of the monitoring process to measure PI. Collaborates with the other functions in OM in identifying areas for improvement.
- Conducts data analysis on an ad hoc and as needed basis to identify areas for improvement. Provides specific reports as needed.
- Promotes an organization-wide awareness of PI. Encourages participation, involvement and leadership.
- Collaborates with Department Chairmen, Divisional Heads and Directors in identifying areas for improvement and developing initiatives to address improvement. Facilitates and supports PI projects requiring multi-disciplinary or divisional participation.
- Educates Hospital staff, including Senior Management and Medical staff, on PI methodology. Collaborates with all relevant services within the institution to identify educational needs and promote PI tools and related knowledge.
- Prepares and conducts presentations on PI activities to all relevant parties e.g. Executive Leadership, Clinical Services Leadership, Nursing Leadership, OM staff, etc.
- Participates in self and other's education, training and development, as applicable.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Health Care Management or any related discipline
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- Must be registered nurse in Canada or the United States
- Five years of clinical experience, including two years current management experience in the field required.
- Current experience in PI in a mid- to large-sized acute-care hospital required.
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or equivalent required.
