The seven-bed Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit (CSICU) at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Jeddah treats both adult (30%) and pediatric (70%) cardiac surgery patients. Nurses in the department function within a total care nursing system.

Common surgical procedures include:

  • congenital cardiac defect repairs
  • valve repair/replacement
  • coronary artery bypass
  • thoracic aortic aneurysm repair
  • heart and/or lung transplant

Nurse to patient ratio:
1 : 1

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree or Diploma in Nursing, and
  • Current nursing license in Canada or the United States, and
  • A minimum of two years experience as a Registered Nurse, including one-year of recent experience in a similar area, working in a mid- to large-sized acute-care hospital in North America, and
  • Must have pediatric CSICU experience.
