The Environmental Services Department at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia consists of Housekeeping Services, Laundry Operations, and Pest Control.
The department provides cleaning services throughout the hospital, including: the OR theatres, cath lab theatres, and critical care units. Long-term patient rooms and isolation rooms are cleaned in coordination with nursing services.
A new Bed Management System, which has maximized the availability of functional beds and improved the identification of beds in need of repair, was recently implemented. And a new Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) System, which will monitor the use of linen and scrub suits, is in the process of being implemented.
The department has a staff of about 550. Annually, it cleans more than 39,000 discharged rooms, receives more than 22,000 work requests, and processes more than 3 million kilograms of laundry.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Business Administration, or equivalent, and
- A minimum of six years experience -- with at least three years as a Manager of Support Services, Environmental Services, and/or Housekeeping -- in a mid- to large-sized hospital in North America.
