The Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia has 19 beds.
The most common cardiac surgical procedures include:
- coronary bypass surgery
- cardiac valve replacement/reconstruction
- thoracic aortic aneurysm surgery
- congenital cardiac defect repairs
- robotic heart surgery
- MAZE arrhythmia surgery
- heart and lung transplant
Prior to offering a permanent one- or two-year contract, the hospital invites doctors for a one-month locum. This provides an opportunity to see the hospital, the department, Riyadh, and Saudi Arabia before making a long-term commitment.
Requirements:
- American Boards or Canadian FRCPC in Critical Care, and
- A minimum of three years post-specialty certification experience as a Cardiac Intensivist in North America.
