Geriatric medicine is becoming a larger part of the Department of Internal Medicine at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The vast majority of geriatric patients have cardiovascular, pulmonary, and/or metabolic diseases. Diabetes has become very prevalent. Dementia, old CVAs, chronic renal impairment, difficulty in swallowing, and heart failure also feature regularly.
Prior to offering a permanent one- or two-year contract, the hospital invites doctors for a one-month locum. This provides an opportunity to see the hospital, the department, Riyadh, and Saudi Arabia before making a long-term commitment.
Requirements:
- American Boards or Canadian FRCPC in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine, and
- A minimum of three years post-specialty certification experience in Geriatric Medicine in North America.
