The Radiation Therapy Department at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia treats cancer patients of all ages.
Patient care is provided by a multidisciplinary team that consists of Radiation Oncologists, Radiation Therapists, Radiation Physicists, Dosimetrists, and Radiation Nurses.
The department offers state-of-the-art equipment and treatment techniques, including: three dimensional conformal radiation therapy (Advantage Sim); stereotactic radiosurgery (eight procedures were performed in 2006); and Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT).
The department operates five days per week. Its activities in 2006, include:
- 55 total body irradiation for bone marrow transplants
- 48,000 outpatient visits
- 1,300 new cancer patients
- 23,000 radiation treatment visits
- 82,000 radiation treatment portals
Reporting to the Assistant Chief of Nursing, the Nurse Manager is responsible for the 24-hour management of the unit, including assessing all staffing needs and allocating work assignments.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, and
- Current nursing license in Canada or the United States, and
- A minimum of six years experience as a Registered Nurse, including a minimum of one year as a Nurse Manager/Head Nurse, at a large acute-care teaching hospital in North America.
