The Department of Ambulance Services at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia follows the American Department of Transportation (DOT) standards and protocols.
The service operates 24 hours per day. It has four Road Rescue type III ambulances, which are equipped with Lifepack 12 Monitors (including SPo2 and BP capabilities), a comprehensive drug kit, and an advanced airway kit:
- One unit is based at the Children’s Cancer Center.
- One is assigned for VIP duties (specificially for Saudi royalty and/or visiting dignitaries).
- Two for all critical care, ALS, BLS, emergent and non-emergent transport in and out of the hospital.
Paramedics also provide in-services and training for EMT student and other hospital staff.
Shifts are 24-hours in length, and are scheduled on a six-week scheduling system.
Requirements:
For American paramedics:
- Nationally registered paramedics (NREMT-P) must have a minimum of two years of paramedic experience at a North American facility
- State registered paramedics must have a minimum of five to seven years of paramedic experience at a North American facility
Canadian paramedics:
- Must hold an active provincial ALS paramedic license
- A minimum of two years of paramedic experience at a North American facility
