The Hematology Section is part of the Cancer Center at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre’s in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The section is responsible for the investigation and management of adult patients with a variety of hematological malignancies (mostly acute and chronic leukemias, myelodysplastic syndromes, multiple myeloma), as well as several non-malignant hematological disorders. Its facilities include:
- a 15-bed acute leukemia unit
- a five-bed intermediate level ICU
- a 15-bed bone marrow transplant unit (the service performs about 120 BMTs annually)
- outpatient clinics
The hematology section also has an extensive hematopoietic stem cell transplantation program, with a focus on allogeneic stem cell transplantation. It performs 60 to 65 stem cell transplantations annually, and follows stem cell transplantation patients at a specialized bone marrow transplant clinic within the hospital.
The Clinical Instructor is responsible for coordinating continuing education in collaboration with the department of Nursing Development & Saudiization and with the unit’s Education Coordinator (to whom s/he reports directly).
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, and
- Current nursing license in Canada or the United States, and
- A minimum of five years experience as a Registered Nurse at a large acute-care teaching hospital in North America, including a minimum of one year as a Clinical Instructor.
