The Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, and Communication Sciences at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia has a fully-equipped temporal bone lab and offers state-of-the-art technology that includes a CO2 laser, operating microscope with navigation systems, and audiovisual with 3D video systems.
Providing care for primarily adult patients and the occasional hemodynamically stable pediatric patient with malignant and/or congenitally related diseases, nurses in the 24-bed unit function within a total care nursing system. Endoscopic examinations and minor surgeries (e.g. myringotomies) are sometimes performed in the unit’s treatment room.
Annually, the department sees over 1,300 operating room cases and over 24,800 outpatient clinic visits. In 2006, 36 cochlear implants were performed.
Nurse to patient ratio:
based on acuity
Shifts are 12-hours in length and follow the American rotation. Overtime is available.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree or Diploma in Nursing, and
- Current nursing license in Canada or the United States, and
- A minimum of two years experience as a Registered Nurse working in a mid- to large-sized acute-care hospital in North America.
