The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia receives patients admitted directly from Labour & Delivery and Newborn Nursery, or referred from an outside facility (the NICU at the King Faisal Hospital is the referral centre for premature infants born in the Kingdom). Nurses in the NICU function within a total care nursing system, and care is family centered with an emphasis on parent information and education.

The unit has a total of 37 beds, which consist of 27 Level III beds (including eight isolation beds) and 10 Level II beds.

Nurse to patient ratio:
1:1 or 1:2 or 1:3 depending on acuity.

Shifts are 12-hours in length and follow the American rotation. Overtime is available.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree or Diploma in Nursing, and
  • Current nursing license in Canada or the United States, and
  • A minimum of two years experience as a Registered Nurse working in a mid- to large-sized acute-care hospital in North America.
