The Palliative Care Unit at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Riydah, Saudi Arabia, has 17 beds and treats both adult and pediatric who are in need of acute aggressive symptom management, respite and terminal care.
 
Frequent Procedures/Services/Functions:
• Medication delivery including radiation administration and management
• Patient/family education
• 12 lead EKG
• Patient assessment and evaluation
• Blood products administration
• Management of artificial airways
• Chest tube management
• Oxygen therapy and pulse oximetry
• Central IV line management
• Maintenance of skin integrity
• Pain management including epidural pain management
• Palliative Radiation therapy management 
• Bereavement care
• Spiritual care
• Emotional support
• Wound care
• Ostomy care
• Family Conferences

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree or Diploma in Nursing, and
  • Current nursing (RN) license in Canada or the United States, and
  • A minimum of two years of recent experience as a Registered Nurse working in a mid- to large-sized acute-care hospital in North America, of which at least one year of current, full-time experience must be on a palliative care unit.
