Job Summary:
The Respiratory Therapist I - Respiratory Therapy Services, performs routine clinical patient care activities within his/her scope of practice. The Respiratory Therapist I will be responsible for the implementation of Respiratory Therapy patient care plans and patient specific Respiratory Therapy activities and modalities under the direction of a Physician. He/she will be responsible for ensuring Respiratory Therapy Services are delivered according to best practices. He/she will be required to attend, participate and contribute in multi-disciplinary organizational groups. He/she will participate in the development and implementation of Respiratory Therapy Clinical Pathways and for keeping the Supervisor(s) of Respiratory Therapy Services and medical staff informed of both progress and potential problems. He/she will demonstrate professionalism in the planning and delivery of patient care at all times.
Requirements:
- A three-year Degree/Diploma, or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy, and
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) or the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT), or equivalent Registration
- Must have a minimum of two years of current, full-time experience as an RRT in PEDIATRIC/NEONATAL CRITICAL CARE (i.e., PICU and/or Level III NICU) in a LARGE (300+ beds) acute-care, TEACHING hospital
- NRP, PALS, ACLS Certification
- Familiarity with TJC, JCI and other accreditation organizations.
- Experience with clinical Information systems is desired
- Perinatal Pediatric Certification is preferred
