Services covered in this 34 bed unit (A-3) include: adult and pediatric urology (e.g., radical cystectomy with urinary diversion, TURP, TURBT, bladder augmentation, penile prosthesis implant/removal, hypospadias/epispadias repair, radical/simple/partial nephrectomy), adult and pediatric radiation therapy (e.g., medullablastoma, brain stem tumour, astrocytoma, retinoblastoma), and adult gastroenterologyastroenterology (e.g., esophageal disorders, gastroduodenal disorders, liver disease, pancreatic diseases, biliary disorders). In addition, The Acute Medical Unit (7 beds) provides a high level of nursing care to pulmonology and patients with acute medical conditions that require frequent observation and close monitoring. A-3 provides nursing care primarily to adult patients, along with a select group of hemodynamically stable pediatric patients, with malignant and/or congenitally related diseases who require complex diagnostic workup, major complex surgery or treatment follow up.
