One Third of the World's Population infected with Hepatitis: New Report
In order to qualify for and obtain a work visa for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, one must first pass a series of medical tests, including screening tests for a number of infectious diseases (e.g., HIV, Syphilis and Hepatitis).
Although the majority of our applicants are (thankfully) pathogen free, we have had instances in the past where seemingly healthy individuals have discovered that they are carriers of the Hepatitis virus – but had no reason to be tested until applying for their Saudi work visa.
In a shocking article published by Saudi Arabia’s Arab News, they report that the World Health Organization estimates that one third of the global population (i.e., two billion people) are infected with Hepatitis – a deadly liver disease. More shocking still is that most of those carrying the hepatitis virus, do not know that they have it.
The article further explains the difference between the five Hepatitis viruses (A, B, C, D, and E), and their vaccinations.
