Motorcycle taxis were the preferred form of transportation of pilgrims this Hajj season in Saudi Arabia. The drivers stood to make extraordinary profits, since their small bikes allow them to weave between heavy car traffic. Saudi authorities unsuccessfully attempted to clamp down on the bikes, which were considered a safety hazard, which continued to ferry pilgrims between holy areas. –Arab News, November 9, 2011
