The Saudi Arabian Civil Defense Department has unveiled an elaborate plan on how to ensure a peaceful Hajj season. The Department has employed approximately 21,900 officers and acquired 5,900 pieces of equipment and 19 helicopters to patrol Mecca and other holy sites. These preparations come at a time when there are already a million pilgrims in the country waiting for the November 4 start of Hajj. -Arab News, October 19, 2011
