Riyadh Choral Society
The Riyadh Choral Society (RCS) was formed about 24 years ago by a mere eight people who loved to sing, and wanted to bring music to the expatriate society. They have sung stoically through wars and through peace with their numbers swelling to a peak of around 100 members. They now have approximately 40 members and present concerts 2 to 3 times a year. Last summer they sang excerpts from shows, including West Side Story, My Fair Lady and Les Miserables. This November, their Seasonal Concerts will also include the children from the British School Choir and, as always, the audience will join in many of the seasonal songs.
RCS also, of course, welcomes new choral members as well as new audience members! They sing in the usual formation of 4 voices, soprano, alto, tenor and bass (and sometimes in 8 with second parts in all sections). There is no audition. Simply contact RCS at rchoralsociety.com@windowslive.com to have the rehearsal location and day disclosed to you and your name put on the gate list. There is no requirement to be a pure “sight reader” – a good ear is good enough.
