The Cleveland Clinic Hospital in Abu Dhabi, UAE (CCAD) is a 364-bed, tertiary-care, adult-focus hospital. CCAD is an extension of the US-based Cleveland Clinic’s model.

In all, more than 30 medical and surgical specialties are represented at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. The hospital officially opened in May 2015.

Summary:

Under the supervision of the Manager of Radiation Safety and Medical Physics/RSO, the Medical Physicist will perform Medical Physics compliance testing on radiologic equipment to ensure its quality and optimal performance to ensure compliance with both UAE and International regulations. For example:

  • Performs Medical Physics compliance testing, quality assurance, and radiation safety measurement for X-ray machines, CT scans, Fluorosocpy, mammography, Nuclear medicine related equipment, etc.
  • Conducts and supports related institutes in obtaining accreditation related to specific X-ray machines such as CT Scan ACR accreditation, Mammography ACR accreditation, etc.
  • Establishes and maintains a comprehensive program of Quality Assurance for CCAD and contributes effectively in the CCAD Radiation Safety Committee (RSC)
  • Manages patient dose reference index and clinical radiation protocols in collaboration with both related institutes CCAD physicians and clinical staff to ensure optimization of radiation at CCAD.
  • Conducts calculations and evaluations (safety assessment) of architectural drawings and specifications for adequate shielding and contamination control provisions, including identifying safety hazards and delineating modifications.
  • Assists in responding to and/or investigates radiation incidents/emergencies related to patient safety and implements corrective actions.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Physics required
  • Master's degree in Medical Physics or Radiation Physics required
  • Must have American Board of Radiology qualification in Diagnostic Medical Physics
  • Current national license
  • A minimum of five years of experience (post ABR qualification) in Medical Physics in an acute-care/tertiary setting
  • Must have experience in Diagnostics and Nuclear Medicine, including at least five years experience performing annual performance evaluations/surveys on all diagnostic imaging equipment including radiography, fluoroscopy, CT, mammography, MRI, SPECT, PET, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, etc.
