The Cleveland Clinic Hospital in Abu Dhabi, UAE (CCAD) is a 364-bed, tertiary-care, adult-focus hospital. CCAD is an extension of the US-based Cleveland Clinic’s model.
In all, more than 30 medical and surgical specialties are represented at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. The hospital officially opened in May 2015. Summary:
A professional RN with oncology-specific clinical knowledge who offers individualized assistance to patients, families, and caregivers to help overcome healthcare system barriers. Using the nursing process, an Oncology Nurse Coordinator provides education and resources to facilitate informed decision making and timely access to quality health and psychosocial care throughout all phases of the cancer care continuum.
Responsibilities include:
- Pre-visit record collection and multidisciplinary visit coordination, patient education, pre-chemo teaching and pre-chemo coordination, post-chemo evaluation and coordination, symptom mgmt., post discharge (ED or hospitalization) assessment and coordination
- Improve patient outcomes of patients with cancer through staying abreast with latest evidence based practice extensive knowledge, specialized skills, and good clinical judgment
- Recognizes and addresses numerous complications that occur during and after treatment
- Provides consultation and collaborates with physicians, nurses and other health care team members to develop a comprehensive and coordinated plan of care
- Coordinates diagnostics, procedures and specialist appointments
- Develops and implements performance improvement activities related to Joint Commission International and other cancer accreditation bodies
- Educates and/or organizes educational activities for caregivers to keep current with ONS recommendations and updated standards of care
- Ensuring prompt drug availability, referrals, scheduling at infusion centre, etc.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing required (at least two years duration; online/distance programs cannot be considered)
- Master's degree in Nursing an asset
- Current RN license
- Minimum of of 5 years’ current/recent experience in oncology clinical practice in diverse levels of care is required (days cases, infusions, inpatient, clinics, radiation oncology, bone marrow etc.)
- Current/recent Nurse Navigator experience in oncology in a tertiary setting
- Oncology specialty credential (e.g., OCN, AOCN, AOCNS, AOCNP, and CHPON ) preferred
