The King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center (KFSH&RC) is a modern, 1,100+ bed Joint Commission International (JCI)-accredited academic medical facility located in Riyadh, the vibrant capital city of Saudi Arabia.


Assumes responsibility for the planning, organization, facilitation and implementation of Patient Safety activities. Coordinates the activities of the Patient Safety section, as directed.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develops patient safety and risk management plan in line with the Hospital's mission, vision and provision of services. Facilitates implementation of Patient Safety Plan.
  • Participates in the development of Quality Management (QM) Department policies and procedures, curriculum for education and training in alignment with the patient safety plan.
  • Supports concerned departments in designing patient safety and risk management programs within their department, as assigned.
  • Perform clinical responsibilities within related specialty such as (Nursing, Laboratory, Respiratory, Pharmacy, etc.) as assigned.
  • Educates Hospital staff, including senior management and medical staff on patient safety, as assigned.
  • Promotes Just Culture where errors and near-misses are openly discussed and used as learning opportunities.
  • Oversees activities related to data collection, data review, analysis and dissemination of patient safety information.
  • Prepares and presents quarterly reports on adverse events and identified trended issues and risk areas to Director, QM.
  • Coordinates the investigation and conduction of Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and root cause analysis of actual and potential Serious/ Sentinel events in the Hospital.


  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or other Clinical Profession (please note, online degrees cannot be accepted)
  • Master's preferred
  • Current active license to practice (e.g., RN, RRT, Laboratory, etc.)
  • Certified Professional Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or any related Healthcare Quality certificate is required.
  • Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) or Certified Professional in Risk Management (CPHRM) is required.
  • Certifications in Lean, Six Sigma and/ or other PI methodologies are preferred
  • A minimum of six to eight years related experience, of which at least two years of current experience must be in a managerial position in Patient Safety in a tertiary setting
