The King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center (KFSH&RC) is a modern, 1,000+ bed Joint Commission International (JCI)-accredited academic medical facility located in Riyadh, the vibrant capital city of Saudi Arabia.


The Senior Cytogenetic Technologist will primarily be responsible for performing microarray testing protocols. The position requires wet-bench lab experience and understanding of molecular cytogenetics, as well as microarray data analysis and subsequent interpretation of copy number and allelic imbalances.

Duties include:

  • Perform SNP-array testing and analysis using Cytoscan DX platform (Affymetrix).
  • Analyze microarray data using CHAS software and report clinically significant findings.
  • Be proficient in operating and maintaining microarray hardware and analysis software.
  • Work with a team of microarray technologists as well as collaborate with the main Cytogenetics laboratory to ensure accurate and timely reporting of array results.
  • Review all test requests thoroughly for errors, omissions, clarity, and potential problems.
  • Comply with clinical genetic testing regulatory agencies and proficiency programs (CAP).

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Sciences or equivalent degree from an accredited institution
  • A minimum of 2 years of current chromosomal microarray (SNP-Array) experience
  • Experience with other gene expression, genotyping, or cytogenetic analysis technologies, such as qPCR, or next-gen sequencing
  • Four years of current, full-time experience as a Registered Medical Technologist in Cytogenetics working at a mid- to large- sized hospital setting in the USA, Canada, the UK, Western Europe, Australia, or New Zealand
  • Current registration with ASCP (USA), e.g., CG, MT; CSMLS (Canada); or other National Board in the UK, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand
