RN - Pediatric Surgery - Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

The Department of General Surgery at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, includes nine subspecialty sections: pediatric, breast and endocrine, colorectal, general and minimally invasive, ophthalmology, plastic, renal and pancreatic, thoracic, and peripheral vascular.

The 27-bed high acuity Pediatric Surgery Unit treats patients from infants to age 14 years. Many patients have multiple underlying and complex medical conditions. There are approximately 50 pediatric OR cases per year, and surgical areas include general surgery, plastic surgery (major reconstructions), urology, ENT, and neurology/neurosurgery. Most patients will have a family member with them 24/7 for their entire hospital stay. Nurses in the unit function within a total care nursing system.

The trend across all subspecialties has been to adopt minimally invasive techniques, and new technologies - such as robotic surgery - are being performed.
