The King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center (KFSH&RC) is a modern, 1,000+ bed Joint Commission International (JCI)-accredited academic medical facility located in Riyadh, the vibrant capital city of Saudi Arabia.

The Heart Centre is a tertiary cardiac care delivery center with international standards of excellence. Pediatric and adult patients are evaluated in highly specialized clinics by multidisciplinary staff who are uniquely trained and certified by either North American or European Boards in their respective medical subspecialties; patients are offered therapies consistent with disease-specific management guidelines in accordance with international standards.

With its four clinical sections of Adult Cardiology, Pediatric Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery and Cardiac Surgical Critical Care, the Heart Centre is fully capable and committed to meeting the growing needs of the Kingdom and its people for all types of cardiovascular diseases thereby minimizing, if not totally eliminating, referrals abroad.

  • Heart transplantation The only center in Saudi Arabia and in the Gulf States Region (in 2017, there were 35 heart transplants, with seven on children under age 14)
  • Mechanical heart assist devices for bridge to transplant or recovery - one of the very few centers in the area
  • High-risk open heart surgery in hemodialysis patients
  • High-risk complicated repeat congenital open heart surgery in pediatric population
  • High-risk complicated repeat open heart surgery in adults, children and newborns

  • MD Degree
  • National Board Subspecialty Certification in Cardiac Surgery from the United States, Canada, the UK, Western Europe, Australia, or New Zealand
  • Current, active medical license in the United States, Canada, the UK, Western Europe, Australia, or New Zealand
  • Minimum ten years of current post-specialty certification experience working as a Consultant in Adult Cardiac Surgery working in a tertiary-care, academic hospital.
