The King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center (KFSH&RC) is a modern, 1,100+ bed Joint Commission International (JCI)-accredited academic medical facility located in Riyadh, the vibrant capital city of Saudi Arabia.

Medical and Surgical ICUs include (i.e., not including cardiac, neonatal, and pediatric ICUs):

  • The 15-bed Surgical Special Care Unit (SSCU-B) treats patients who have undergone major surgical procedures such as: craniotomy; aorto-femoral bypass; and transplants (except liver, which are seen on L10 below, and cardiac, which are seen on the CSICU). Cardiac patients may also be treated here if beds are unavailable in the CSICU.

  • The Oncology/Medical ICU (L9) has 31 beds, and sees patients aged 14 and older with medical or oncologic conditions.

  • The 12-bed MICU-E is a Medical ICU that treats patients aged 13 and older, many of whom are chronically ventilated

  • The 26-bed Liver ICU and HDU (L10) has 26 beds, and sees patients aged 14 and older, who are either liver donor or recipient patients, or who are medical/surgical oncology patients.

1,500 patients (age 14 and up) are admitted annually. Approximately 65% of patients are surgical cases.

Nurse to patient ratio: 1 : 1 or 2

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (online/distance education programs cannot be considered)
  • Current nursing (RN) license
  • Must have a minimum of two years current experience as an RN in ICU in a tertiary-care hospital
