Carnegie Mellon University is one of several American universities which was invited by the Qatar Foundation to open a site in the Education City complex in Doha. The university offers several programs, aimed to prepare a student for a bright career in Qatar or abroad.

There are four undergraduate programs: Biological Sciences, Business Administration, Computer Science, and Information Systems. In addition, students of Carnegie Mellon Qatar are able to participate in a 'cross-registration program,' which allows them to take courses at other universities within Education City.

In fact, there is no mention of Qatar anywhere on the diploma or the degree, and the diplomas are made in and shipped from the United States.

Is there financial aid for international students?

International students may apply to the Qatar Foundation for loans, which can cover anything from 5% to 100% of tuition (including international student costs). Loans must be paid back when the student graduates. Carnegie Mellon University offers 5-10 academic merit scholarships that cover 50% of tuition.

Is there health insurance for international students?

All residents of Qatar are provided with national health coverage by the State. International students who have received their Residence Permit are eligible to obtain a National Health Card and receive free medical care.
