6. Northern Ontario School of Medicine University

- About: Very strong focus on rural, remote, Indigenous and underserved community medicine; distributed education in northern Ontario. (Personal note: sitting on a flight from Toronto to Thunder Bay, I spoke with a family medicine resident. She was glad to be heading back to Thunder Bay from Mississauga, a city which was much too big for her... but while she liked Thunder Bay, city population 109,000, it was also too big for her, and so she wanted to practice in a smaller northern community.)

- About: Canada’s newest med school, opened in 2025, is designed specifically for primary care physicians.

- About: One of the oldest in Canada (founded 1868), includes early clinical exposure, and serves the Atlantic region. Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick also admits 40 NB students each year, giving them the opportunity to study medicine in their home province.

2. Faculty of Medicine - University of Prince Edward Island (Regional Campus of Memorial University of Newfoundland Faculty of Medicine)
